Traveller Stories

The trip people don't stop talking about

Real words from travellers who walked, sailed and climbed with us.

“Standing at Uhuru Peak at sunrise was the hardest, most alive I've ever felt. Our guide Joseph carried the whole team — and our spirits — the entire way up.”

“We saw the river crossing on day three. Thousands of wildebeest, total silence, then chaos. Karanfil put us in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.”

“Stone Town, the spice farms, then a dhow at sunset. Every day felt designed for us. I've already sent three friends their way.”

“PLACEHOLDER — replace with a real traveller story. We came down onto the crater floor just after dawn and had it almost to ourselves. Our guide found a black rhino before breakfast.”

When to Go

Every season has its story

Tanzania and Zanzibar are year-round, but each season shows a different face. Here is what to expect, month by month.

Season 1 of 4

Peak wildlife, clearest skies.

The classic safari window. Thinning water draws game to the rivers, the Mara River crossings peak from July, and dry trails make Kilimanjaro and Meru at their most reliable. Busiest and priciest — book early.

Short Rains — Green flush, fewer vehicles.
Short Dry — Calving season and coastal sun.
Long Rains — Lush, quiet, best value.
Good to Know

Questions, answered

The things travellers ask us most, before they book.

June to October is dry-season prime for safari and trekking, with clear skies and easy wildlife spotting. The migration river crossings peak July–September. For Zanzibar's beaches, the same window is ideal, while the green season (January–March) brings fewer crowds and newborn animals.
