Diving and snorkelling Zanzibar's reefs

Zanzibar's warm, clear waters shelter some of the Indian Ocean's richest reefs — home to green turtles, reef sharks, rays and more than 500 species of fish.
Mnemba Atoll is the headline act: a protected marine reserve with superb visibility and a good chance of turtles on almost every dive. It suits first-timers and experienced divers alike.
If you'd rather stay on the surface, the snorkelling is just as rewarding — shallow coral gardens teeming with colour, easily reached by dhow from the northern beaches.
The marine park status means these reefs are carefully looked after. Touch nothing, take nothing, and they'll be just as breathtaking for the next traveller.
